So it begins…
Just a question before I start - are blogs still cool? No? Well that’s unfortunate.
Well, I’ve never jumped on a trend while it was popular, so this is completely in character for me. So let’s begin!
I suppose this is where I introduce myself.
Hello, my name is Cassandra. Good to meet you.
I am born and raised in southern Manitoba. I grew up in an extremely small town (talking 500 people…) near the Canada/USA border. I grew up in an extremely artistic family on a small hobby farm.
My mother has always been a bit of an artistic wonder to me. Our houses have always been adorned with her beautiful wildlife paintings. As I grew up, she added more and more hobbies to her already vast artistic interests. It always amazed me how she could pick up a new hobby and create something amazing that same day. When I was young, I wanted to be an artist just like her. Unfortunately for me, I could not pick up a new hobby and be naturally amazing at it. It took years (26 to be exact) to finally find my artistic muse. I’ve always been creative, but I’ve never consider myself artistic. I’ve dabbled in many mediums - acrylic paint, water colour paint, wood burning, crochet, beading, sketching, you name it, I’ve probably tried.
The result is a basement full of unfinished projects that I can’t seen to purge no matter how many times I’ve tried. After all, maybe one day I’ll try again!
After all these years of needing an artistic outlet, but not being able to find a medium I really loved, the second I sat down with polymer clay, I knew this hobby was different. The hours flew by, and I was so into my project, that my feet went numb many times before I called it a day. And years later, I’ve never looked back. The hobby to end all the hobbies. The craft I love, the craft I’m passionate about, and the craft I truly believe in.
My hope for this website is not to sell, but to showcase. To share. I want a place to post every project that I’ve loved. I’ve never been able to create just to sell. The idea of creating things that I don’t like, but strangers on the internet will empty their wallets for, has never been a draw for me. I love polymer clay, but I love creating things that I like. Everything on this website is something I truly think are amazing. I believe in the things I make, and I hope you do too!
So join me on this journey! Thanks for stopping by!
